Tales From Switch City: Kickaha's Tale

Tales From Switch City Kickaha’s Tale “Hmmmmmm.” Kickaha was staring very intently at a small drainpipe that was attached to a local school building. The rust and white colored foxyote narrowed his eyes with impatience as he continued to stare with it intently, his short green cloak shifting along his back as he perched on all fours, tail swishing in annoyance. No matter how long he stared the drainpipe remained a drainpipe and nothing special happened with it. Eventually, his patience wore thin. “I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!” He grabbed the drain pipe and tried to shake it. “I was literally seconds away from grabbing you before you found a hole to hide in! You can’t stay in there forever! You have to-” As Kickaha shouted and shook the drainpipe it suddenly came loose from the side of the building, and with a great clattering of noise collapsed onto the school lawn. “Uh… I mean… Probably still in there?” Kickaha released his grip on what was left of the pipe standing up as it too fell

Tales From Switch City: Aurum's Tale

Tales From Switch City Aurum’s Tale By CalexTheNeko Switch City, that strange place that just happened to be built on a nexus point between all worlds. The walls between realities and timelines were so thin, it was easy to accidentally wander into another reality without even noticing it. Due to the fact there were an infinite number of timelines and realities, many of them were very similar. When one went through a Reality Shift, it often wasn’t noticeable at all. They might simply have stepped into a world where the grocery store didn’t carry their favorite cereal anymore. Or, they might step into a world ruled by different creatures than their own species or one where the rules of magic and technology were vastly different from their own world. The biggest shock was always going from a world without magic to one where it was everywhere. But sometimes, magic didn’t take the form of wizards swinging around staves and conjuring fire. Sometimes, the magic was more subtle, interfacing

Sonnets 1-3

Sonnet 1 (Petrachan Sonnet) I feel my heart begin to start beating. Why can I not stop thinking of her face? I have nothing for this, without an ace. So what must I do to make this fleeting? Her face I am now constantly dreaming. Upon this blow how can I make a case? Now sick of heart the cure I can not trace From my new trouble there is no fleeing. I want to go and see her, be with her No, but I am sure she can not be mine Nay, for I must exist to be her love So as of yet I can play not a mer. So soon, to her I shall finally shine Alas, for what'd I do to take her love Sonnet 2 (Spenserian Sonnet) To win her heart I shall n

Mama Wolf

Mama Wolf By CalexTheNeko     It wasn't often Zeelo went camping. In fact, he wasn't sure if he had been camping before. Still, climbed out of his tent, surrounded by nature completely secluded he could start to see what people liked about it. Yet, he couldn't shake the notion something was wrong. He understood this was supposed to be a fairly popular camping ground, and yet no one else was here. Zeelo couldn't shake the feeling he had made a wrong turn somewhere. He had to take his car off road to get here and it had been pretty late at night so was hard to read the signs. Perhaps he had just set his own tent up a little further away from

Tiny Computers Stole My Life

Talking About Cell Phones or, Tiny Computers Stole My Life! Imagine if you will, yourself, sitting in an overcrowded movie theatre. You paid $6.50 to get in to see a new movie, and for the next two hours just plan to relax and watch. The movie approaches its climax, you lean forward in anticipation, and then suddenly, someone's cell phone begins to ring. It rings three times before they pick it up, and then they begin to talk loudly, while in the movie, and you are unable to hear the climax. This story may not be as farfetched as you would think. Cell phone usage has gotten downright ridiculous in the United States lately. It almost seems a

Welcome To Ivalice: Chapter 4

After nearly getting myself killed by getting on a dragon's bad side (Hint there is no good side) Syrus was now forcing me to undergo combat training. Apparently, if I was going to run off and try to fight monsters I should apparently learn how to at least use a sword first; and while he's not wrong I do wish he could have said that in a less condescending manner. So it was I found myself sitting in the middle of a forest clearing by a campfire with Syrus. We weren't exactly alone though. "Alright I'll bite kupo," I said breaking the silence. "So I get why you brought me here but why is Raol here?" I said looking over at the nu mou who was s
